using open source tools
Involves design and implementation of
framework for EAP-TLS, TTLS, PEAP, FAST using WPA supplicant
and Freeradius server. Atheros APs and client cards were
used.
July 06 - May 07 : Design and development of
VoIP security test setup
To analyse the security vulnerabilities of SIP based
VoIP systems, an VoIP test setup was developed. The tools
used include Snort IDS, SIP Express Router, X-Lite, Webmin,
BASE etc.
July 05 - June 06: Pseudo Random Number Generators
(PRNGs) implementation in FPGA:
VLSI architectures for various PRNG techniques
namely LFSR, FCSR, AWC and LFG were designed and VHDL
code for the same was developed. Simulation and Synthesis
of the architecture was carried out and the final design
was ported to Virtex FPGA.
Aug 04 - June 05: RC4 Encryption algorithm implementation
in FPGA for WLAN Security:
The RC4 encryption algorithm, which is
widely used in WEP – 802.11b WLAN and Netscape,
was converted into architecture and the VHDL code for
the various modules were coded and simulated, synthesized
and implemented in Xilinx SPARTAN series FPGA.
Projects carried out at VLSI / Embedded Systems
Lab. BSA Crescent Engg. College:
June ‘04 – Apr. ‘05: VLSI Implementation
of Wireless LAN security
The various modules of the TKIP (Temporal
Key Integrity Protocol) of IEEE 802.11i WLAN security
standard were coded in Verilog HDL, simulated and synthesized
targeting Xilinx’s FPGA. Also the open source implementation
of 802.1x has been analyzed.
Implementation of Advanced Encryption Standard
(AES)
The various functional modules of AES
algorithm namely substitute byte, shift rows, mix column,
key expansion and add round key blocks were coded in Verilog,
simulated and synthesized.
June ‘03 – May ‘04: Hardware
implementation of IPSec protocol using VHDL
In this project the hardware modules
required for the IPSec realization namely encryption (DES)
and authentication blocks were coded using VHDL, simulated
and synthesized using EDA tools.
June ’02 – May ’03: Design of
a priority arbitrator for shared buffer ATM switches:
This project seeks to resolves the contention
for service between various queues in a shared buffer
ATM switch, and also discarding is done using a new algorithm
called the Extended Reactive Bandwidth Arbitration (E-RBA)
algorithm. The various modules of the arbitrator namely
Service Arbitrator, discarding arbitrator and EPR calculator
were coded in HDL, simulated and synthesized.
June ’01 – Apr. ’02: VLSI design
& implementation of HDLC controller
The various modules of the HDLC controller
such as Parralel in Serial out, Annex, Bit stuffing, Transmitter
control and Receiver control blocks were coded in Verilog
HDL and simulated in Veriwell simulator and Synthesized
using Leonardo Spectrum.
June ‘00 – Apr. ‘01: Design
of Centronics Parallel Port using Verilog HDL
Various blocks of the Centronics Parallel
port, namely Data latch, Tri state buffer, control latch,
address decoding logic were simulated using ModelSim and
synthesized in Leonardo Spectrum. The designs were downloaded
onto Xilinx FPGA.
CPLD Implementation of PPI using Verilog HDL:
Verilog codes were written for individual
functional blocks of the PPI 8255 to operate on different
modes. Xilinx Foundation Series was used in this work
and the design was mapped onto CPLD.
June ‘99 - Apr. ‘00:
VLSI design of UART using VHDL
VHDL codes for the complete UART comprising of Transmitter,
Receiver and Baud rate generator were developed using
Active-HDL simulation environment. The designs were synthesized
and implemented on FPGA.
ATM Switch design using Verilog HDL:
This work aims at simulation level designing
of the modules of the ATM switch. The designed modules
include Counter, Dynamic RAM and FIFO and Data acquisition
buffer. All the modules were coded in Verilog HDL and
simulated using Silos III simulation environment.
June ‘98 – Apr. ‘99: DSP Adaptive
Filter Design:
The system is based on the principle
of acoustic wave cancellation using feed forward technique
on a high end 16-bit mixed signal microcontroller (AIM
250E) having parallel DSP engine and analog interface
modules. In this work, the LMS algorithm has been used
for adaptive filtering and generation of pure noise from
a mixture of data and noise.
